Select one or more objects in your drawing.
This can be any number of objects.
Step 2: Accidentally Deselect the Objects
Press Esc (Escape) or otherwise clear the selection.
The selected objects will no longer be highlighted.
Step 3: Start the SELECT Command
Click in the command line.
Type:
SELECT
Press Enter.
Step 4: Use the Previous Selection Option
When prompted to select objects, type:
P
Press Enter.
Step 5: Previous Selection is Restored
AutoCAD/Civil 3D will automatically reselect the most recent selection set.
The objects you had selected before pressing Esc will be highlighted again.
Quick Command Sequence
SELECT ↵
P ↵
When is This Useful?
You accidentally press Esc while selecting many objects.
You need to perform another command on the same group of objects.
You want to avoid spending time reselecting complex or large selections.
Pro Tip
The Previous (P) option recalls only the most recent selection set, so use it before creating a new selection if you want to recover your original selection.
