STEP BY STEP GUIDANCE BELOW
Open your Civil 3D drawing.
Make sure you already have:
- An alignment in the drawing.
- A related profile view.
- A final (FG) profile created for that alignment.
Select the alignment in the drawing.
Right‑click on the alignment and choose Edit Alignment Labels.
In the Label Set dialog:
- Under Type, select Profile Geometry Points.
- Under Profile Geometry Point Label Style, select Standard.
- Click Add.
When prompted, select the profile you want to use for labeling:
- Choose your final ground (FG) profile.
- Alternatively, pick the correct profile from the list.
Choose which geometry points to display:
- Uncheck all geometry point options.
- Check Low Point only (or select others such as High Point or Grade Break if required).
- Click OK.
Click OK again to close the dialog.
The low points from the profile will now appear as labels on the alignment.
To change which geometry points are shown:
- Go back to Edit Alignment Labels.
- Modify the geometry point selections as needed.
To change the profile the labels reference:
- Select a different profile in the same dialog.
Optional: Add Elevation to the Label
Select one of the profile geometry point labels.
Choose Edit Label Group.
Select Standard, then choose Edit Current Selection.
In the Label Style Composer:
- Go to Text Contents.
- You will see components for:
- Geometry point type (e.g., Low Point)
- Station
- Click the ellipsis (…) to edit the text.
Under the station text:
- Insert Profile Elevation.
- Set the required number of decimal places.
Click OK to close each dialog.
The labels on the alignment now show:
- Geometry point type (LP, HP, etc.)
- Station
- Profile elevation
